The site that is now home to the Garage spa was for many years a petrol station and garage, serving travellers on the A66. Today it provides a pit stop for those in need of a wellbeing MOT.
The Garage Spa has once again been awarded 5 Bubbles by the Good Spa Guide.

The Garage Spa
The Garage Spa is an oasis of calm tucked away in the rural hamlet of Greta Bridge near Barnard Castle. Surrounded by rolling hills and peaceful countryside it is the perfect location for a spa day to rest and recharge.
With five luxurious treatment rooms, including a double suite, an indoor hut tub experience, outdoor Shepherds Hut sauna and hot tubs, relaxation lounges and the paint room, perfect for nails to be polished whilst sipping on Prosecco. The Garage Spa has everything you need to ensure you put the brakes on for a while.
All treatments are carried out with premium products from Elemis to ensure your skin is left feeling fresh, hydrated and glowing, whether you are looking to rejuvenate your skin or just relax and unwind with a luxurious body massage you will feel restored.

Sustainability and the Garage Spa
Spa Footwear
As part of our continuous commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, we are making an important update to our spa policy. Effective from the 21st of October, we will no longer be providing flip flops to our guests in the spa.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
This decision comes after a thorough review of our business practices with the aim of reducing waste and minimizing our ecological footprint. By making this change, we are taking a significant step towards promoting a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
We kindly request all guests to bring their own spa-suitable non-slip footwear for their visits. Ensuring that your footwear is non-slip is important for your safety and comfort during your time with us.

Everything you need to know before your visit to The Garage Spa
Age Requirement
Arrival Time
To ensure you receive the correct treatment time and full benefits, please allow at least 15 minutes to check in prior to your appointment. In the event that you may turn up late, we will only be able to offer the remaining treatment time but will still charge the full price.
Attire
Here at the Garage Spa we provide you with a robe and towels to use throughout your spa experience. Swim wear is required for all spa facilities, we do advise bringing two costumes for full days. For treatments it is normal to wear underwear or we can provide disposable briefs if you prefer. We also ask that you bring suitable footwear for wet areas and outdoors.
Alcoholic Beverages
We have a fully licensed bar that is open from 11am. We do reserve the right to refuse to serve anybody that is considered intoxicated. Using the heat facilities and receiving a treatment when intoxicated can cause you to feel very unwell. A charge will be made if you consume your own alcohol on the premises.
Cancellation Policy
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon booking both treatments and spa packages. For treatments please allow 24 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling to avoid a fee of 100% of your service. Failure to arrive will result in a 100% charge. For packages we require 48 hours notice for cancellations to avoid a 100% charge. Failure to arrive will result in a 100% charge.

If you would like to enjoy your treatment in our duo room please request this upon booking, perfect for couples.

Etiquette
Our luxury spa has a peaceful ambience one of which we request all guests to respect others. We kindly ask that all guests keep voices to a whisper throughout the spa. Smoking is prohibited unless in designated areas. Mobile telephones and electronic devices should be set to silent. It may be politely brought to your attention if we believe other spa users are being disturbed.
Patch Tests
Pregnancy
Please advise us if you think you may be pregnant or undergoing any fertility treatment. We do not offer any treatment before the first trimester is over, after this we do have specially designed treatments for mums to be or mums breastfeeding. We advise you avoid all heated spa facilities. Please speak to the service team if you have any questions or queries.
Medical Conditions
Some of our therapies are not suitable for guests with certain medical conditions. We request that you notify us if you have any of the following conditions when booking: Epilepsy, allergies, heart condition, high/low blood pressure, scar tissue, varicose veins, skin conditions, diabetes, cancer, thyroid, pregnancy, recent operations. We have specially designed therapies for expectant women or nursing mothers. Please allow our spa team to guide you in selecting therapies that are most suitable.
Spa & Hotel Property
All items in the Spa & hotel remain the property of the Morritt Hotel & The Garage Spa, we reserve the right to charge guests after departure for items removed during the stay (for example – but not limited to – bathrobes, flip-flops, towels, items in rooms/treatment rooms and around the property).
Treatment Time
Your treatment time as advertised is not hands on treatment time. This time does not include before and after care which is inclusive of your treatment.
Valuables
We cannot accept responsibility for the safety of your personal belongings (including – without limitation – money or valuables) of any kind during your stay or your day package. If you do bring these items to The Garage Spa we strongly recommend that they are covered by your own insurance policy.
